I Love My City

SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 9AM – 12PM

We believe that it’s our privilege and responsibility to show God’s love by serving our cities. I Love My City is a one day event that takes place every season, when we come together as a church in partnership with great organizations to make a difference by serving our communities and spheres of influence in practical ways.

I Love My City Rally Point: Saturday, March 7, 9am at your campus

Help appreciate the hard work and dedication of some of our local teachers by putting together gift bags for them.

Serving opportunities could include card making, gift basket assembly and gift making.

**Project is suitable for young children.

First Day serves approximately 2,300 individuals experiencing homelessness through outreach, homelessness prevention, housing, health, advocacy and other services.

Help build confidence and self-esteem by providing manicures to residents. Serving opportunities include running check in, maintain manicure station cleanliness and giving manicures.

The Whittier Senior Center provides life-enriching programs for adults, 55+

Serving opportunities include: gardening, decorating, removal of shrubbery, etc. to update their garden and patio area.

Please note: this project may go beyond 12 pm. Most suitable for ages 13 and up.

Project: Beautification

Description: The Whittier Museum collects, preserves and displays materials of historical significance to the greater Whittier area.

Serving opportunities could include painting, cleanup, repairs, etc.

La Habra Police Department is dedicated to providing the community with a safe environment to live and work.

Help us thank those that protect our surrounding communities every day.

Serving opportunities include: set up at the event, serving food and possible appreciation card making prior to event.

WUHSD, consists of 5 high schools and 3 alternative learning programs.

Serving opportunities include assembling 500 hygiene kits for students that are determined to be of need by district and school officials.

Evergreen has been a long-standing community partner of Family Church.

Serving opportunities could include painting, cleanup, repairs, etc.

Please note: this project may go beyond 12 pm.

There are hundreds of people that utilize our local laundry mats daily. Let’s brighten their day by providing gift bags with laundry essentials. Group will also deliver gift bags to the laundry mats.

Service opportunities: assembly of bags, delivery and appreciation card making.

**This project is suitable for families and young children.

School on Wheels provides free tutoring & mentoring to children from K-12 grade living in shelters, motels, vehicles, group foster homes and on the streets in Southern California, including Whittier.

Serving opportunities include making blankets.

Exact project TBD. Our church will show appreciation for the local heroes that keep us safe every day.

Habitat for Humanity seeks to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build new homes or renovates existing homes for families in need.

Serving opportunities: Be a part of building a home in the local Whittier area. Specific details will be released in the next 2 weeks.

Please note, this project will go beyond 12 PM. Lunch will be provided.

I Love My City Rally Point: Saturday, March 7, 9am at your campus

Christian based organization that helps the homeless male population. The time commitment is from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Serving opportunities include setting up the dining hall for dinner and prep for the next day. which would be breakfast. If under 18, must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age of 10.

This is a part of the Long Beach Rescue Mission, it focuses on serving women and children who are homeless.

Serving opportunities include collecting and preparing desserts.

Serving opportunities include preparing sack lunches to distribute in the community to those in need.

Wash Kit Assembly & Delivery

There are hundreds of people that utilize our local laundry mats daily. Let’s brighten their day by providing wash kits with laundry essentials and quarters. Group will also deliver kits to the laundromats.

Service opportunities: assembly of kits, appreciation card making and delivery.

Signal Hill Police Department is dedicated to providing the community with a safe environment to live and work. Help us thank those that protect our surrounding communities every day.

Serving opportunities include: set up at the event, serving food and possible appreciation card making prior to event.

Donate hygiene items and prep compassion kits for group home.

We were all made to make a difference. Because of your continuous generosity, we are able to impact thousands of people through our Food & Clothing Distribution at each campus through weekly distribution of groceries and clothing, I Love My City projects and our global partnerships.
